Update!!
Hexidecimal values may now be denoted in expressions using the &H prefix. The INP() function and OUT command has been added to the DOS Edition. It makes sense to allow DOS programmers the ability to access ports. This only works on the DOS .Edition and not DPMI, Win32, or Linux. While this allow...

Mainstream media picking up on retro tech trend
Many of us have been preserving and restoring tech from the past for many years. We saw the direction things were going early on. The age of the people's computer continually fades away as entities like Microsoft and Sony grow. Especially when government decides to give subsidies to companies who ar...

Re: Express BASIC - an interpreter in C
I had to rush out another update as last weeks update introduced another bug with INPUT.
There's also a new error message for undefined line numbers and two new examples.
New examples:
Camel.bas
Father.bas
The Linux Edition is now distributed as a tar.gz archive as opposed to a zip.

The future of Lucidapogee.com
The domain is renewed. This time for 9 years. A small investment for the bigger picture. Meanwhile I just deleted ANOTHER 92 spam registrations today. There's a new batch of them every day. More and more. They keep trying to fool me, but it's not working. This forum is for clean and friendly compute...

Another Express BASIC update!
This update includes some bug fixes and adjustments. The goal is to make this interpreter work like classic BASIC languages. The TAB() function has been added. Re: Valentine Card 2024
Hi Brian, I like the examples you've been making. This one is really special.
May I please add your examples on the Net Basic page? They would make a perfect addition to inspire creativity.

Express BASIC big update
With the last update, we achieved cross platform compatibility. Now we have better memory handling. This update makes line numbers independent from the line count. With this, we have combined the 8088 and DOS editions into one. Now the DOS edition may have 2500 line count with virtually unlimited li...

Re: Number to Speech
You got a Vtech? Awesome!
I forgot about the voice command. Does it voice out floating point numbers and negatives? Or does it just speak the digits while ignoring the decimal or sign?

Re: VTech BASIC
The funny thing to me is it took me 10 years to justify buying one when I already have so many computers to collect and I am totally not disappointed. I now want to obtain a Precomputer 2000 with the 2 line display and the Prestige with the 4 line display. The Powerpad Plus looks awesome too. But th...

Express BASIC update!
We are attempting cross platform targeting. This includes Windows 11, Windows XP, Linux, or even the oldest DOS computer with an 8088 processor. Multiple compilers are involved in the development process including Borland Turbo C, Open Watcom, and DJGPP. The way things are, there's severe memory lim...
